30 days of music meme day 30!

Day 30 - Your favorite song at this time last year

Let's go with this one, because it inspired art in me.

Yep, so we're done folks, but you know what? I'm going to challange myself. I'm gonna do all 30 again, right now.
But only with Alice Cooper songs.

Day 28 - A song that makes you feel guilty
Guilty? Umm. Hm.
I can't think of a suitable answer for this one at all.
Oh, wait!

Do you have any idea what it's like to be a Type O Negative fan and not like this song? Do you? If you don't like it you're a BAD TON fan! Bad Fan! Don't you know Peter Steele just Died?! Dance morosely damn it! HARDER!

30 days of music meme day 26

Day 26 - A song that you can play on an instrument
The only instrument I can use is my voice. So, I can sing...songs.
Here's a song I grew up with. If you also grew up with it, you and I are part of an elite group of awesomeness.

30 days of music meme day 24

Day 24 - A song that you want to play at your funeral

We're almost done, folks!
I know I mentioned this song on LJ, but here it is again. It's a very inspiring song, but the vocals make it sound very brooding and hopeless. That's me alright, masked optimism.

30 days of music meme day 23

Day 23 - A song that you want to play at your wedding
Screw weddings.

Buuut in my more innocent, less jaded days, I had two songs that were totally wedding songs in my

The first one

And the second one

Mine would be an interesting wedding...

I don't want to get into the reasons why.

I think it's time for some Juice Pigs, don't you?

Also, some Vestibules!

Take that, Metal By Numbers!

30 days of music meme day 20

Day 20 - A song that you listen to when you’re angry
I almost picked Trash by KoRn and then I decided KoRn is silly.

I'm having a tough time deciding this one...So, I'll just go with ...

or...Nick Cave - The Mercy Seat. Sorry, embedding was disabled.

30 days of music meme days 18 & 19

I was very busy yesterday and I forgot about the Meme until after midnight, so here we are...

Day 18 - A song that you wish you heard on the radio
Conjure One (Featuring POE) - Center of the Sun. I love this song and I think it would be great if exposed to a wider audience.

Day 19 - A song from your favorite album

Sunday, 18 July 2010

30 days of music meme day 17

Day 17 - A song that you hear often on the radio
I don't listen to the radio anymore, and when I do it's classic rock stations.

30 days of music meme day 16

Day 16 - A song that you used to love but now hate

I liked this song for the AMV embedded below, and the scene in Titan A.E., but I just heard it too much so now I hate it.
But this AMV is still cool, and reminds me of how bad-ass Sailor Moon was.

30 days of music meme day 15

Day 15 - A song that describes you
Again with REPO!
Genetic Emancipation is all about how the lead character copes with everything she knows to be...well, a lie. It's about how she can make her own choices and live her own life, regardless of her genes or her parentage.

Replace "parentage" with "health problems" and yeah, I feel ya, Shilo.

Yes, I relate to this song more than Infected, because, y'know, I'm not THAT bad off.

Other songs I considered were POE - Control, Weird Al - Everything You Know is Wrong and Alice Cooper - Is Anyone Home?

Thursday, 15 July 2010

30 days of music meme day 14

Day 14 - A song that no one would expect you to love

There's just this feeling of utter hopelessness buried in this song that I adore.

A dream I had about Elven Lacryment

Last night I dreamt that the first episode of Elven Lacryment was complete. However, it was an animated show!
The episode consisted of a tyrant king who had captured the leader of a group of freedom fighters. He puts the leader on display to show the masses that the king won and the rebels lost and we find out the leader is none other than ...Suicide. Suicide with a strange broad nose. Yeah, I dunno either.

Anyway, somehow Suicide gets free and rallies the rebels again just by virtue of being Suicide. It's odd because if anything, that's more Junker's story (but it's not, but it's similar anyway. Kinda, in the way Marvel and DC are similar...). I went to re-watch the episode and....

And then I woke up and was immediately sad because NO! I wanna go back to a place where Elven Lacryment is showing progress!

So the current thought is perhaps just bite the bullet and write it out and publish it as a web serial. It's a little disheartening because I want the visuals. I want people to see the story before them, not simply read it...

Day 13 - A song that is a guilty pleasure

I. Love. This. Song.
It's a perfect commentary to the shit that passes for music.

If you wanna hear the entirety of "Cry Tonight" try this.

30 Days of Music Meme day 12

Day 12 - A song from a band you hate
I'm a strong believer that any band or performer will have at least one song I like. I like the songs What I am and Stan by Eminem.
I like The Man that You Fear, Theatre, Coma White and The New Shit by Marilyn Manson.
I like Broken and Last Breath by Evanescence.
I like White Stripes' cover of Joleen.
I like Dragula and Living Dead girl.
I like Hystaria by Muse.
I like Push by Moist.
I like a few Tea Party songs.
I like Machine Head and Chemicals Between us by Bush.

Here's a song I don't like, by a band I don't like, I just find it freakin' hilarious.

30 days of music meme day 11

Day 11 - A song from your favorite band
Huh, what? Oh, sorry, got distracted by Coop. I couldn't chose just one. Sorry. No I'm not, who are we kidding. BOW DOWN TO COOP!

The following video can be triggery and is NSFW. The best part is that he's performing with his daughter Calico. Best. Dad. Ever.

30 days of music memeday 10

Day 10 - A song that makes you fall asleep
Hey, look, we're in the double digits.

Oh dear, there are so many to chose from.
I've had to fall asleep to the weirdest things when sick, I've had to block out hospital sounds like other's snoring, machines, wailing... And you know what blocked it out the best?

Yes. I can fall asleep to Dethklok.

I'm more hard-core than you.

Saturday, 10 July 2010

30 days of music meme day 9

Day 09 - A song that you can dance to

I don't like to dance in public. I don't like watching others dance, it's just embarrassing for all involved.

However, eventually on our once-and-a-while clubbing trips, I finally got the girl-balls enough to dance.

And I danced to this...

Shut up.

Friday, 9 July 2010

30 days music meme day 8

Day 08 - A song that you know all the words to
Night Surgeon from REPO! The Genetic Opera.
Fun fact: If you have the subtitles on while watching the DVD, the subtitles are wrong. It says "Make your momma boil ya" but it's really "make your momma mourn ya"
The subtitles are also wrong during the song Thankless Job. It mentions Penis for some reason....

30 days of music meme day 7

Day 07 - A song that reminds you of a certain event

This might sound like a cop-out but "Believe" by Nikki Yanofsky makes me think of, duh, the 2010 Olympics, which were basically in my back yard.

It was just such an epic few weeks, and it's actually what got me to watch Hockey (Yeah, I know, bad Canadian.)

We watched the opening ceramony in Massey Theatre, and my chair broke! But it was cool because yeah, it was a little lame but with so many other people, you couldn't help but feed off the energy and be very proud and think it was the best opening ever.

Every kid in my niece's elementary school knows this song by heart, it's neat.

30 days of music Meme day 6

Day 06 - A song that reminds of you of somewhere

Cranberries. Pretty much the entire No Need to Argue cassette. It reminds me of my old house. It reminds me of staying up untill 6am colouring and learning in Photoshop.
It reminds me of sitting in my bedroom on my first laptop, wedged nicely between my bed and the wall, with the summer sun setting in the window behind me while I wrote bad Marvel fanfiction. This is my favorite Cranberries song, so, enjoy.

Absolute Write July Blog Chain - Symbiotic Sympathy.

"I know why were here," he says as he places a short glass full of Pepsi with a shot or two of Crown Royal down in front of me. "You're trying to cast me in a sympathetic light because you joined that damn Absolute Write Blog Chain again. The person who tried this before, with their puppet was IrishAnnie, and the one after you will be Proach. This should be fun."

"That could be one way of looking at it," I say, swishing around my glass to the cubes make sweet little sounds. "Where should we begin?"

"Where indeed? You don't really expect this to be simple, do you? People are going to, are required to read this. You don't think I'm going to open the deepest part of my heart, or mind, or past or whatever you want to call it, to a flock of strangers?"

"Well, technically I could make you say whatever I want you too. I could make you talk about the time you rescued a litter of newborn kittens from a snow storm."

"Now who's the overbearing control freak, Q?" He says my moniker with contempt, because he knows my real name but he's kind enough not to say it, though he lords the fact over me.

"You are, NecroRaver." I answer with a similar tone to his. I know his name, but I'm kind enough not to say it. Then I drop the act and sigh. "C'mon. The sooner we get through this, the sooner we can do other things."

He relents. "Fine. So," he kicks his skinny legs onto his desk and slouches back in his chair. "Why me? Why not the Big Bad Villain in Elven Lacryment, or Blood in the Water? Why me?"

"Because you're the ultimate villain in my headspace, full stop. Very few of my characters that reside in the Q-niverse don't fear you. You're kind of transcendent."

NecroRaver smirks. "I'm touched. I expect that we're to re-tread old ground then, for the neophytes who are going to read this? Like I said, I'm not going spelunking into my deep, dark, chocolaty soul."

"You keep me alive."

"For the benefit of no one but myself and my city."

"But you still keep me alive, through all the surgery, the mania brought on by pain, the darker times, anger management, you keep me sane."

He steeples his fingers, the tips of his mechanical left hand look more talon-like than I'm used to. "Because you made me. I'm a creature of your creation, you're my version of God. You know my thoughts about God."

"We both want to punch God in the face sometimes." I agree. "Maybe we're our own pantheon. You're God to your followers, I'm your God in the Creationist sense because I made you. And I've treated you very well."

He tilts his head, miss-matched eyes flickering around the spacious, ornate office. "I can't argue with that. But if I may, I believe you're going about this whole post wrong. You're making vague reference to things no one who doesn't know us cares about."

"And your solution to that is...?"

"Maybe I'm not a creature worthy of sympathy, short of your self-centred points of view. But, maybe that's enough. Why should any readers care about me or what I do, what makes me tick? Sometimes an antagonist doesn't need to make his motivations clear."

"Everyone always wants to know the why."

"Do they? Amazing characters have often fallen aside once their past, generic or cliche as it turns out to be, is revealed. Maybe I just do what I do with no sense or remorse or wonder. Again, maybe I'm impossible to sympathize with."

"You're rambling," I point out as I take a slight interest in the fact that my ice cubes are melting.

"Lecturing," he corrrects me. "Would I really be what I am if I lent myself to sympathy? Not everyone can sympathize, and not everyone is capable of receiving it. Sometimes, there's no tragic doomed love, or abusive home-life, or poverty or murder. Sometimes a sociopath is merely a sociopath."

"You can show yourself out, Q. As for the reader, you have somewhere else to be."

30 days of music meme day 5

Day 05 - A song that reminds you of someone

Oh, this one is hard.
I've been sitting here for 15 minutes trying to think of an answer to this question. All the answers I came up with were either too strange or redundant.

Finally I decided to bite the bullet and answer it thus:

Tenacious D - Tribute reminds me of my best friend Dopp.

Yeeeaaaaaars back, Dopp came up from Arizona for a visit. We listened to copious amounts of Tenacious D and Tribute, along with Jesus Ranch became his 'theme song' in my strange brain.

Sorry, embedding is disabled.

30 days of music meme day 4

Day 04 - A song that makes you sad

This one is a toss up between two songs. The first song is Desperado, by the Eagles.
The first time I remember hearing it, I was making a soundtrack for my father's wake. I just started sobbing and sobbing. After that, I couldn't listen to it for the longest time without getting teary-eyed.

The first time I was able to listen to it without crying, it came on the radio while in a friend's mother's car.

The second one is a A Boy and this Frog, a Jim Henson tribute song by Tom Smith. You might have heard about it in this Something*Positive strip. If this song does not make you cry, than you have no soul! When the robots are our masters and look like man, we will blast this song out like they did in Mars Attacks and use it to ferret out the androids from the people, I swear!

I still, STILL cannot listen to this song without tearing up, and tearing up BAD.

30 days of music meme day 3

Day 03 - A song that makes you happy
This is my new feel-good song. IT'S SO CHIPPER!
You can't help but air drum and soft shoe to it, even if you have no rhythm what-so-ever.

30 Day of music meme Day 2

Day 02 - Your least favorite song
The song below, I hate so much that I won't even embed it. I won't even link it.
I hate this song so much that I would rather go see Coldplay live then listen to this song.
I'd rather listen to a mix-tape of bad 80's pop music than this song.
I'd rather listen to Raffi, Barney and Lamb Chop over and over and over and over for a WEEK then listen to this song.
I'd rather watch 24 hours of rap music videos on Much Music than listen to this song.

This song literally gives me a headache and makes me nauseous.

And that song is...

Fat Boy Slim - Praise you.

Yeah, 30 days of music meme

I'm gonna do the 30 days of music meme. Hang on for an annoying, redundant ride.
Day 01 - Your favorite song
This is hard. I like so many songs. But Haunted, by POE has been on the top of my list for a few years now so I guess that's my answer.

Here's an AMV I made with that song. POE- Haunted
